Easter 2011 {In Pictures}

I don't consider myself a big holiday type of person. I really only decorate my house for Christmas and even that is pretty minimal. While I love Christmas for the warm, cozy, magical feeling surrounding it, I adore Easter for the tradition in it.

We start out each Easter dyeing eggs. This tradition has become somewhat of a "let's get this over with" type of thing because the kids are into everything. However this year with Zoelle being a year older, I felt it went smoothly. Unfortunately Xiomara slept through the whole thing, so it was just the bigger girls. They loved it and outside of Meridian trying to dump the water out, eat the egg, color everything; it went great! :)

The other highlight is hunting for Easter eggs! This is the first year Zoelle truly was into it and it was fun to see her chase around looking for an egg with a surprise in it. Even Meridian got in on the excitement.

Do you celebrate Easter? Also, how do you dye your Easter eggs? I love the bright colors of the kits, but not the chemicals in it so I'm looking for ideas for next year!

  2. Isn't food coloring just as bad though?? I know I can go the food route (onions, paprika, coffee) but I honestly don't love the colors.

  3. We also dye eggs, hide them and hunt them. I use the chemical filled dye kits and {GASP} I let me kids drink them b/c they like the taste of vinegar(vinegar makes more vibrant colors) and they are just fine ;) It's only once a year! I love Easter too, but I LOVE all holidays!

  5. Hey, Vanessa! I've always used food coloring, but this year I used blueberry juice and curry powder, and that was so much fun. The blueberry turned out a medium-dark blue, and the curry turned out a pretty yellow. Next year I want to try out more natural dyes.

  6. Heather great to know about the blueberry and curry! I think next year I'll at least try it. If I don't love it, I can go back to the kits again! :)

  7. We've never dyed easter eggs with our girls...perhaps because my parents never did it with me when I was growing up?

    P.S. I love your daughters' dresses! Where did you buy them?

  9. They do love vinegar. I once tried to use it as a way to cure naughty words and they were like, "we like this!" Backfire #34
